CCEI Announces New Online “Fit for Life” Child Care Training Course

Duluth, GA/ September 23, 2011 – ChildCare Education Institute (CCEI), an IACET approved, nationally accredited, distance training institution dedicated exclusively to the child care and education workforce, is proud to announce the addition of HLTH103: Fit for Life.

While diet plays a crucial role in a child’s health, physical activity (or lack thereof) is really at the root of the rising childhood obesity rates in the United States. Vigorous play on the playground or in high-intensity games is one way for children to get some of the exercise they need, and consistent, sustained light to moderate physical activity is the key to good health in childhood and beyond. This intermediate-level course provides strategies for incorporating movement activities across the entire curriculum, so that light to moderate movement becomes a regular consideration when planning and facilitating activities in the early childhood environment.

“Many early childhood educators struggle with incorporating adequate physical activity into the daily curriculum,” says Maria C. Taylor, President and CEO of CCEI. “Children don’t need to be red-faced, sweaty, and breathless in order to get the activity they need, and this course offers simple, fun, appropriate ways to engage children in daily play and learning activities.”

Upon successful completion of this course, students will receive 0.2 CEUs and the ability to print and/or save their certificate of completion immediately. HLTH103 is available at no cost to account holders with an active, annual individual or center-based subscription. Without a subscription, this course may be purchased individually through online enrollment at www.cceionline.edu.
