This course is intended to provide information that will reduce the impact to children, families, and the facility in the event of a crisis or traumatic event (emergency or disaster) inside or immediately surrounding the facility, as well as strategies to help children and families recover and cope after an emergency, disaster or traumatic event. Throughout this course, participants will be presented with recommended practices for emergency and disaster planning and preparedness, and policies for responding to various types of disasters and security threats. Identifying typical responses of children, disaster mitigation, and strategies for helping children and adults cope with a variety of misfortunes are also covered within the online course.
