CCEI Offers Online Training that Promotes Empathy and Positive Behavior

ChildCare Education Institute® (CCEI), a distance learning professional development and certificate provider, offers SOC104: Promoting Empathy and Other “Prosocial” Behaviors as an online no-cost trial child care training course to new CCEI users during the month of October in recognition of Global Diversity Awareness Month.

Empathy promotes meaningful relationships and better communication and problem-solving skills. It also promotes greater understanding between people of different backgrounds. This course examines recent social research into empathy and other “prosocial” behaviors, as well as recommended strategies and practices for guiding young children through the early phases of empathy’s long development process. Through successful completion of this course, participants will be able to demonstrate an understanding of empathy and the difference between empathy and sympathy, define the “warm glow effect”, and identify appropriate strategies for promoting and reinforcing prosocial behavior in the early childhood environment.

“Empathy is a key component of any successful childcare environment. Equal support and understanding among the children creates a better overall atmosphere for the childcare provider,” says Maria C. Taylor, President and CEO of CCEI. “This course outlines exactly what empathy means in the classroom, and provides key strategies to promoting prosocial behavior.”

This beginner-level training course is available as a trial course to new users with CCEI account creation in October. Current CCEI users with active, unlimited annual subscriptions can enroll in professional development courses at no additional cost when logged in to their CCEI account. Users without subscriptions can purchase child care training courses as block hours through CCEI online enrollment.
