Sensory processing refers to the way the nervous system receives messages from the senses and turns them into appropriate motor and behavioral responses. The senses all work together to deliver messages to the brain about the world around us. This course is designed to help teachers understand sensory processing, its implications in the classroom, and how to support children who may be struggling with sensory processing. Course content includes helpful teaching practices and strategies for meeting the needs of all learners. Upon successful completion of this course, participants will be able to define proprioceptive and vestibular senses, identify characteristics of Sensory Processing Disorders, differentiate between sensory-seeking and sensory-avoidant behaviors, and much more.
