Technology and Digital Media in Early Childhood Covered in Online Course from CCEI

ChildCare Education Institute® (CCEI), a distance learning professional development and certificate provider, offers CHD103: The Child’s Digital Universe: Technology and Digital Media in Early Childhood as an online no-cost trial child care training course to new CCEI users during the month of January.

Technology and Digital Media have quickly become a part of most early childhood programs and schools. It’s important to make sure the ever changing landscape of technology and interactive media is used effectively and safely when it comes to young children. This course presents the latest research and recommendations regarding children’s use of technology and digital media, and the ways in which digital devices are reshaping childhood and early childhood education. Participants will learn to identify types of digital media, define and identify the significance of the digital divide, demonstrate an understanding of what it means to be a good digital citizen, and more.

“Digital media is steadily becoming a fixture in early childhood classrooms, and it’s important that childcare providers are properly trained on its effective uses” says Maria C. Taylor, President and CEO of CCEI. “This course provides helpful information for early childhood professionals to both regulate and integrate technology in the early childhood environment.”

This intermediate-level training course is available as a trial course to new users with CCEI account creation in January. Current CCEI users with active, unlimited annual subscriptions can enroll in professional development courses at no additional cost when logged in to their CCEI account. Users without subscriptions can purchase child care training courses as block hours through CCEI online enrollment.
