CCEI Covers Assessment Practices in Early Care and Education

ChildCare Education Institute® (CCEI), a distance learning professional development and certificate provider, is proud to introduce CUR117: Authentic Assessment in Early Care and Education to the online child care training course catalog.

Assessment refers to the act of “judging or forming an opinion about somebody/something.” In the classroom, assessment means more than simply judging or forming an opinion. Assessment is the means by which teachers measure student progress, strengths, and needs and the means by which they make informed, evidence-based decisions about curriculum and instruction. This course provides comprehensive, research-based guidance about assessment in early childhood education. Course participants will learn about recommended assessment methods and practices, with emphasis on observation and authentic assessment. This course also provides recommended strategies for analyzing assessment data as a means to individualize instruction and improve the overall early learning environment.

“Authentic assessment plays a critical role in the early childcare environment where individualized learning is so important,” says Maria C. Taylor, President and CEO of CCEI. “We’re excited to offer this course to assist childcare professionals in the most useful assessment practices, and thus ensuring the best learning opportunities for the children in their care.”

This three-hour training course is available for online enrollment now, and awards 0.3 IACET Continuing Education Units (CEUs) upon successful completion. Active, unlimited individual or center-based subscription holders may take this course at no additional cost at any time.
