CCEI Educates Child Care Professionals on Outdoor Safety in Support of National Safety Month

In June, National Safety Month, ChildCare Education Institute is offering child care professionals the opportunity to learn about outdoor safety in the early childhood setting by completing CCEI110B – Outdoor Safety in the Early Childhood Setting, at no cost.
In the United States, over 200,000 children visit hospital emergency rooms each year as a result of playground injuries. The majority of injuries are due to children dropping to the ground from playground equipment.  CCEI110B: Outdoor Safety in the Early Childhood Setting provides child care staff information they need to create a safe and fun outdoor learning environment.
Students completing this one-clock-hour online course will be awarded 0.1 IACET CEU and receive a certificate of completion. Participants will learn:

  • To identify common outdoor-related injuries to children
  • Appropriate strategies for preventing outdoor injuries
  • Four basic components of playground safety
  • To identify playground problems and potential hazards
