This course examines the importance of open communication between parents and teachers. Participants will learn about positive listening and speaking skills, overcoming communication barriers, and other methods and strategies that will help ensure parents are active partners in education.

This course is designed to help early childhood education staff to better understand conduct that will violate policies against workplace harassment. This course gives participants the opportunity to explore the principles behind NAEYC’s Code of Ethical Conduct and Statement of Commitment and the need for such a document in the early childhood profession. As a result of participating in this course, students should be able to demonstrate a working knowledge of the NAEYC Code of Ethical Conduct; ways to apply the Code of Ethical Conduct to problem solve ethical early childhood-related issues or dilemmas, and ways to employ the Code of Ethical Conduct to validate professional standards for children, families, staff, community, and themselves.
