CCDBG Health and Safety Basics
This course provides basic information and recommended practices for the following core health and safety content areas from the Child Care and Development Block Grant (CCDBG). Topics include: Indoor/Outdoor Safety; Handling and Storage of Hazardous Materials; Transportation and Field Trip Safety; SIDS and SUIDS Prevention; Shaken Baby Syndrome; Preventing and Managing Infectious Disease; Food Allergies; Medication Administration; and Emergency and Disaster Preparedness.

Children and Grief
This course will explore how children experience grief and loss during the early years. Participants will explore recommended practices for helping children cope with the death of a loved one and other associated losses. Participants will learn how to be more culturally responsive to students and families who are grieving. Participants will discover the potential impact of supporting others in their grief and self-care strategies for teachers will be shared.

Protecting Infants: Reducing the Risk of SIDS and Shaken Baby Syndrome
This course is designed to increase participants’ knowledge about ways they can protect infants from the risks of sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS) and shaken baby syndrome (SBS). Throughout the course participants will be introduced to risk reducing and preventative strategies designed to keep infants safe. Information provided will also prepare participants to share this life-saving information with families.

Supporting Children and Families Who Have Experienced Trauma
This course explores the developmental impacts of different types of family trauma, from parent incarceration, family separation and military deployment, to domestic violence, addiction, and loss of a loved one. Participants will learn ways, based on current brain research, to structure support for children and families who have experienced trauma. Specific classroom strategies and parent resources are also provided.
