This course provides an overview of growth and development during early childhood and the factors that effect classroom practices. Participants will learn about developmental domains (physical, cognitive, social, and emotional), and associated principles and theories, such as attachment, stranger anxiety, and maternal deprivation.
This course offers ideas for promoting healthy eating and active play in the early childhood environment. Participants will learn why and how to develop a nutrition policy, strategies for working with families to promote proper nutrition practices at home, and curriculum enrichment ideas for increasing healthy lifestyle choices and reducing obesity.

Childhood overweight and obesity put young children at risk for a host of health problems in later life. This course presents information about early childhood obesity and strategies for addressing obesity and promoting healthy behaviors in child care. When successfully implemented, these strategies can help to improve the health of all children in your care.
This course provides an overview of the importance of play for promoting optimal development across all domains during early childhood and beyond. Participants will learn about the benefits of play, different types of play, and ways to promote more play in children’s lives.
This course explores the developmental milestones that children experience at 3, 4, and 5 years of age. The course will explore growth across all areas of development. The goal of the course is to provide early childhood educators with a basic understanding of child development so that they can create realistic expectations, appropriate learning environments, and engaging curriculum for all of the children in their care.
