This course is designed to help childcare professionals understand how to reduce the risk of foodborne illnesses by following guidelines for food safety, personal hygiene and sanitation in the early childhood environment. Upon successful completion of this course participants should be able to define foodborne illness, identify common signs of foodborne illnesses, identify five personal hygiene behaviors, identify effective hand washing techniques and identify sanitary behaviors that should be used at mealtimes.
