Let's look at those 5 tips!

Promote
Cultural Exploration:

Celebrate national observances and holidays, like Black History Month and National Hispanic Heritage Month, by incorporating activities that introduce these moments in time to students.

Celebrate Diversity:

Look for opportunities to share your students’ diverse backgrounds with the rest of the class so you can sow seeds of acceptance and teach children how to respect and embrace differences.

Understand Gender Bias & Stereotypes:

Educate yourself on gender norms and learn how to recognize stereotypes and unconscious biases so you can make sure you’re always promoting gender equity in your classroom.

Appreciate the Unique Characteristics of Children & Families:

Learn about your students’ backgrounds, including family make-up and cultural identity, and make sure you’re treating each child as an individual, taking into account those aspects of their identity.

Support Children with Varying Needs:

Diversity isn’t just about racial, gender and multicultural acceptance. You also need to consider children with disabilities when thinking about an inclusive classroom. Among other things, familiarize yourself with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
