New Course from CCEI Covers Cultural Competence and Diversity in the Child Care Environment

ChildCare Education Institute® (CCEI), a distance learning professional development and certificate provider, is proud to introduce CUR111: Cultural Competence and Promoting Awareness of Diversity in Child Care to the online child care training course catalog.

This course focuses on essential principles and practices for promoting acceptance of diversity in the early childhood and school-age learning environments. Even if a child grows up in a relatively homogenous neighborhood with little diversity, he or she still needs to be prepared for life in a multicultural society. This course is relevant to all children and teachers, regardless of the cultural, racial, and ethnic demographics in their particular community. Course participants will learn to demonstrate an understanding of differences and connections between race, culture, and ethnicity, identify and define essential practices associated with culturally responsive teaching, and much more.

“It’s crucial that children in America learn to thrive and cooperate in a diverse and multicultural environment,” said Maria C. Taylor, President and CEO of CCEI. “This course focuses on curriculum materials and daily activities, as well as how cultural diversity permeates almost every aspect of teaching.”

This four-hour training course is available for online enrollment now, and awards 0.4 IACET Continuing Education Units (CEUs) upon successful completion. Active, unlimited individual or center-based subscription holders may take this course at no additional cost at any time.
