ChildCare Education Institute® (CCEI), a distance learning professional development and certificate provider, is proud to introduce GUI103: Understanding Aggressive and Defiant Behavior to the online child care training course catalog.
In the context of child care, aggressive behavior typically includes any behavior that is intended to hurt, humiliate, harass, harm, and hold power over someone else. Aggressive and defiant behaviors in children pose tremendous challenges to adults at every level, from the early childhood environment through high school. In this course, participants will learn about the underlying causes of aggressive behavior, the reasons why aggressive behaviors cannot be ignored, and strategies and practices for helping children develop positive social-emotional skills. Upon successful completion of this course, participants will be able to identify characteristics of aggressive behaviors, differentiate between instrumental aggression and hostile aggression, identify characteristics of Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD) and Conduct Disorder (CD), and much more.
“Aggressive and defiant behavior in children cannot be ignored, and adults who work with children must be prepared to respond,” says Maria C. Taylor, President and CEO of CCEI. “We’re excited to introduce this course to help teachers and child care providers properly deal with aggression and learn the best practices to address such behaviors.”
This three-hour training course is available for online enrollment now, and awards 0.3 IACET Continuing Education Units (CEUs) upon successful completion. Active, unlimited individual or center-based subscription holders may take this course at no additional cost at any time.
