Online Training Course is No-Cost during ADHD Awareness Week!

ChildCare Education Institute (CCEI), an accredited, online child care training institution, offers the course SPN102: Attention Deficit Disorders at no cost to all new and returning users October 14 – 20, in support of Attention Deficit/ Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) Awareness Week.

With diagnosis rates soaring, it is important that child care providers understand the symptoms, subtypes, and common treatment strategies associated with attention deficit-hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and its common subtype attention deficit disorder (ADD). Early care providers play essential roles in helping to manage and improve educational outcomes for the millions of children and families affected by these disorders. SPN102 is a beginner level, one-hour course, and awards 0.1 IACET CEU upon successful completion.

This course presents basic information every teacher should know about symptoms and warning signs as well as treatment options associated with ADHD. The course provides recommended classroom activities and general communication strategies for working with children and families affected by ADHD. A wide variety of classroom modifications may be made to accommodate for attention disorders, but all successful outcomes require patience, careful planning, and cooperation with families and medical professionals.

“There are children with varying degrees of ADHD in nearly every school and classroom around the country, so this issue touches most teachers,” said Maria C. Taylor, President and CEO of CCEI. “This course presents appropriate classroom accommodations and behavior management strategies that teachers can use to improve outcomes for everyone involved.”
