ChildCare Education Institute (CCEI), an online child care training provider, offers COG100: Exploring Visual/Spatial Intelligence as a no-cost trial course to new CCEI users during May in recognition of Healthy Vision Month.
COG100 examines strategies for boosting children’s spatial intelligence, one of the nine intelligences identified by developmental psychologist Howard Gardner in his influential Theory of Multiple Intelligences. Spatial skills, or “picture smarts,” are used by painters, sculptors, photographers, architects, fashion designers, graphic artists, interior designers, movie directors, pilots, navigators, military strategists, engineers, and city planners. These skills help children view the big picture, or finished product, and foster creativity.
“Incorporating spatial intelligence into the curriculum can add a whole new dimension to the learning environment,” says Maria C. Taylor, President and CEO of CCEI. “This course contains information to assist early childhood educators gain the skills to create foundations for spatial intelligence within our young people.”
This course is a one-hour, intermediate-level training, available as a trial course to new users for CCEI account creation in May. This course is available for purchase through online enrollment now. CCEI students with active, unlimited subscriptions can enroll in this course at no additional cost when logged in to their account.
