Washington Child Care Training and Courses

Courses offered in child-related subjects by ChildCare Education Institute (CCEI) may be accepted as State Approved Training, which means students can use the “Find Trainings” feature in MERIT to search for state-approved trainings. Trainings are recorded in MERIT by the state-approved trainer. If your MERIT record does not reflect your completed training after 30-business days, email merit@dcyf.wa.gov.

Note: Washington does not accept CCEI training certificates for the following courses:

  • ADM107: Coping With Crises and Traumatic Events
  • HLTH102: Preventing the Spread of Bloodborne Pathogens
  • HLTH105: Medication Administration in the Child Care Environment
  • HLTH101: Preparing for an Influenza Pandemic
  • HLTH110: Protecting Infants: Reducing the Risk of SIDS and Shaken Baby Syndrome
  • HLTH111: Safety Practices for Child Care Programs in the Face of COVID-19
  • HLTH112: Recognizing and Reporting Child Abuse
  • NFS102: Preventing Foodborne Illnesses
  • SOC105: Addressing Homelessness: The Role of the Early Childhood Educator

CCEI is an approved training partner by the Council for Professional Recognition (the Council) and coursework can be used to fulfill the training requirements needed to obtain the National CDA Credential in English and Spanish.
